At 40″ you should consider the 6 series from Samsung. That would be the LN40B650 (or 640 or 630, whatever they are using right now). That would give you 120Hz refresh rate.
While 40″ – 46″ is right in the grey area, if you’re looking for a more superior image, you want the extra refresh rate still. Some consumer and guru guides will insist on advanced features like that once you break 40″. Others say you have more flexibility in that range and don’t have to go high end until you break 50″. So its debated. Personally, I would look to go 6 series once I hit 40″.
Unless you’ll be sitting 8ft or further away. Then the 5 series you have listed might be okay. The further you are away the less likely you’ll notice the motion blur problems inherent to LCDs. So then you don’t need the 120Hz to help compensate. But if you’re going to be closer, then you do need it to help hide the LCD flaw.
I have had this for a few weeks now and am very satisfied with its excellent picture and sound. You just can’t beat Samsung LN40B550 ! At the price this is being offered at nothing else on the market competes with it for quality at a low cost.

it has excellent review, you can’t go wrong with that tv if the price is right. It has excellent picture out of the box require little adjustment to get the right picture.
But you might wanna to step up get the 120hz model which also has the 24p playback.
